Poland -Russia football match in Warsaw

on Tuesday 12.June in Warsaw -it was so far the most important Euro match for Polish people. Poland played against Russia. 60thousands people watched the match live at National Stadium, far more than 100thousands watched it in Warsaw Fan Zone, dozens of thousands in Fan Zones in other Polish cities and record 16 milion Poles watched it on TV! I recorded 20sec how Poles cheered Poland’s team in Warsaw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ1n7JDgPTA&feature=plcp

and before the match Polish fans sang Poland’s national anthem twice! :) this is the anthem -when Polish football team was singing it as well on big screens http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fhIfz3iBkk&feature=plcp

The match finished around 11pm in Warsaw. I was in the city center still around midnight. after Poland-Russia match crowds of colourful people were everywhere. some of 60 thousands people who were in the National Stadium walked back across the Poniatowski Bridge and along the main avenue, which was turned into pedestrian-only wide street. some people were joining the rock concert (“T.Love”) in Warsaw Fan Zone (where 150thousands watched the match on huge screens before). the atmosphere was great. it was like a picnic time by night ;) some people were sitting on the grass in the center, others were around the Palace of Culture and Science, others were going to pubs and clubs, others just to take rest. Polish people were asking Russians if they could take photos with them :) that’s the way :) respect.

seeing colourful crowds in Warsaw EURO Fan Zone

well, I have liked the Warsaw Fan Zone during Euro Football Cup :)

Everyday there are thousands of people from all around the world. Many times people’s faces are painted in different colours and they have colourful cloth on -it all depends which football team they support. I had no idea there are so many foreigners in Warsaw -and I am happy and proud about it. well, oh maybe I knew there are thousands of foreigners living in Warsaw -but they are never seen in one place and in such number as during watching Euro matches in Fan Zone.

This is great that there are so many Erasmus students on EU scholarships studying in Warsaw. There was around a hundred of Italians and French. There are also hundreds of young Ukrainians coming to Warsaw to study -which is great as well. And in these days, I could see -that it is not only Vietnamese immigrants living in Warsaw, but there are hundreds of Indians, Pakistani, North African and Middle East Arabs, some Africans as well. And than also hundereds of other foreigners, who look like tourists to Warsaw from West Europe (but I’ve also talked to Mexican and Brazilian tourists who travel around Europe -and had planned to visit Poland in the time of Euro Cup here :) ). I think there are also some West-European expats watching matches in Fan Zone, but from what I’ve learnt many of them prefer to watch matches in cozy pubs and restaurants, as they already have their favourite places in Warsaw.

Well, so I have liked checking Warsaw Fan Zone -to see colourful people of the world.
As always, I take photos and I also started taking videos. I film groups of foreign fans who sing anthems of thir countries before matches. I try to catch their happiness after scoared goals as well.

And I put these short videos into my new YouTube channel, which is http://www.youtube.com/user/WwwVisitingWarsawCom?feature=mhee (there are 9 different national anthems so far).

UEFA EURO2012 Football Cup is here in Warsaw!

On Friday, the 8th of June -at 6pm -there was a 1st kick in Warsaw! :)  UEFA EURO2012 Football Cup co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine started. For nearly 1 month there are 16 best European football national teams playing on 4 stadiums in Poland (Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan, Wroclaw) and 4 stadiums in Ukraine.

The opening match was between Poland and Greece. I didn’t have the chance to watch that match in the National Stadium in Warsaw with other 60 thousands fans, but I was watching the game with more than 120 thousands! :) (mainly) Polish people in the very center of Warsaw -in Euro Fan Zone. The psychology of masses is amazing, so emotions were high, and the atmosphere was amazing! :)

When the 1st goal in Euro2012 Cup was for Poland -thousands of Polish supporters in Warsaw Fan Zone went crazy, very excited :) I filmed the reaction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9e6WFPnZRI

And thousands of Polish people with their faces painted red and white and dressed in Polish white-red cloth -were dancing all together during the break of the match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9e6WFPnZRI

The atmosphere was amazing. a pity that the Poland-Greece match ended with 1:1 ;)
